Welcome to Albemarle Mental Health Center

The Albemarle Mental Health Center is an area mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse authority and a local political subdivision of the State. We are located in northeastern North Carolina and serve the ten-county catchment area of Camden, Chowan, Currituck, Dare, Hyde, Martin, Pasquotank, Perquimans, Tyrrell, and Washington with direct service sites in each of the respective Counties. The Albemarle Mental Health Center is a Local Management Entity (LME) that provides for management and delivery of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse (mh/dd/sa) services through a provider network and service monitoring and oversight of the same. As such, the Albemarle Mental Health Center is currently nationally accredited through January 31, 2009 as an LME by the Council on Accreditation as meeting the highest national standards for professional performance. In addition, the Albemarle Mental Health Center is currently nationally accredited through January 31, 2010 by the Council on Accreditation as meeting the highest national standards for professional performance for providing direct mh/dd/sa services to the citizens of our ten-county catchment area.

The mission of the Albemarle MH/DD/SAS is to design, develop, implement, and continuously improve the quality systems and services necessary to respond to the mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse healthcare needs of its consumers. Albemarle MH/DD/SAS is committed to the management and delivery of necessary direct services that ensure its consumers have timely access to quality care in the most clinically appropriate, least restrictive environment and in the most caring, sensitive, and confidential manner possible.
