What is CFAC?
  • The Consumer & Family Advisory Committee (CFAC) is an advisory group made up of 100% consumers and/or family members who give input about mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse services to the Area Board of Directors of the Albemarle Mental Health Center through Center Staff.

History of CFAC
  • In 2001, the General Assembly of North Carolina passed a new bill into law that stated the Mental Health, Developmental Disability, and Substance Abuse System would be reformed.  This new law created systems that gave consumers, family members, and others a voice to make a difference in the provision of mental health, developmental disabilities, or substance abuse services that would better meet their needs as a consumer and for the community as a whole.
